A Bit About Jeni:
Jeni is an artist, salon founder, and beauty expert with over seventeen years of experience working in the fashion, film, wedding and beauty industries. She has styled hair for the Annual Victoria Secret and Oakley runway shows; done hair and make-up for celebrities such as Toby Keith, Jim Gaffigan, Taylor Kitsch, Nip Tuck cast members and others for TV, album covers, and magazine and newspaper articles, etc.
Jeni is originally from the North-East, but quickly moved out to Los Angeles after cosmetology school to attend an industry make-up school. She studied under master stylists and began working in the city's energizing, fast-paced fashion and entertainment industries. After about a thousand parking tickets in L.A., she moved to Austin, TX, where she opened Pearl Hair & Make-up Studio and quickly made an impression on the city's film and entertainment industry. Now, Jeni maintains a small salon clientele, and does hair and make-up for photo and video shoots, and private clients.
Jeni On Clean Beauty:
As a working cosmetologist of 17 years, Jeni decided it was time to stop exposing herself and her clients to the harmful chemicals found in most beauty products. While she had been working towards cleaner products in her home (cleaning products, household products, body care) there was resistance in swapping out all of the professional make-up and hair brands that she had been using for fear of lesser performance. Deciding that the greater risk that came in the potential health dangers of the products, and all the years of exposure, she went heavy into research mode. In November of 2018 she opened a private salon space, exclusively offering safer hair and make-up products and services, and now has a full professional make-up and styling kit that she uses on shoots and private clients, soley with clean beauty brands.
When considering products for her clean beauty kit, Jeni researches ingredients and (performance) tests cosmetics and styling products from brands that provide ingredient transparency and also self-regulate with their own chemical ban lists. She strives to add products to her kit that are free of chemicals that have been known to contribute to cancer, developmental risks, hormone disruption, and infertility. True clean beauty brands will source ingredients free of parabens, phthalates, PEG's, BHA, formaldehyde, ceteareth glycol, coal tar, synthetic fragrance, nanoparticles, and oxybenzone, to name a few.
All the brands Jeni stocks are cruelty free, and most products are vegan as well.
Jeni is very passionate about the cleaner beauty space, brand transparency, and the notion that we all need to ask more questions when it comes to our health and safety. She hopes to help as many people as possible transition to cleaner beauty products in hope that it will cut out some of the health risks in their lives, and have a trickle down effect in bringing awareness to all of the items we consume, use on our bodies and in our homes.
Preferred brand list: Beauty Counter, Kosas, Clove + Hallow, Ilia, Vapor Beauty, RMS, and Aether.
